I am a friendly and enthusiastic teacher. I always try to get students playing music they find exciting from the start and to minimise the use of technical exercises, and am particularly passionate about encouraging people to use music to express themselves emotionally. I use tunes, accompaniment and games to gradually build technique and expertise at rhythm, interpretation, arrangement and performance.


Traditional music is one of the most sociable forms of music and its repetitive nature provides a great base for improvising around and exploring your own creativity. As it is played by ear, there is no notation to get in the way of forming an intimate relationship to the instrument. Come and learn!
